The old riverbed of the Turia River

river that once ran though the city has been diverted (due to annual
flooding in earlier times) and the entire riverbed turned into gardens,
sport areas, parks, and, at one end, there is a music pavilion, the city
of science, an IMAX theatre and the oceanographic park - and this is just
a taste of the modern architecture and culture Valencia has to offer.
Valencia also has one of the best
hospitals in Europe and from 8 to 10 public and private hospitals with
excellent medical assistance and the most advanced technology.
Valencia harbour, with its old
buildings and new passenger boat terminals, makes
a beautiful contrast well worth seeing.
Valencia has a beautiful yacht club and its beaches are
joined by a long promenade which, in the summer, has open terrace clubs
and bars operating nightly.
The city centre is full of both
large and small shops and shopping centres with all kinds of products for
sale. Typical Valencian restaurants offer exquisite selections of
Mediterranean dishes. The region is famous for its paellas – at the
top of the list of a wide variety of dishes.
